– Presidents' Day Celebration –
A Project of Christi McDaniel's Second-Grade Class
Presidents' Day banner created by Christi's students and displayed in the school's media center

On Monday, February 19, 2007, Christi McDaniel's second graders hosted a special Presidents' Day celebration in Carlson's media center, where they presented their original Kid Pix slide shows about various U.S. Presidents to invited groups of students and parents.

To create their slide shows, each of Christi's students chose a President to study and then followed a research process that included (1) locating and gathering information from multiple sources (books, encyclopedias, and online databases), (2) taking notes, (3) organizing selected information chronologically, (4) using KidPix to create an attractive, informational slide show presentation, and (5) presenting the slide show in the media center.

Ryan's slide-show presentation about George W. Bush (slides pictured below) provides an excellent example of the kind of work the second graders were able to produce.
