– Bicycle Safety Day –
May 22, 2006
Alice Carlson's first ever Bicycle Safety Day was hosted by Michelle Palmer's and Rosemary Robinson's fourth-grade classes under the supervision of physical education teacher Adrienne Taylor. The event was a great success. Every class came to Bicycle Safety Day and went to various stations. They learned all about bicycles, including the 7 bicycle safety laws, how to fit a helmet, what the parts of a bike are, how to ride a bike, the parts of a brain and what they do, and what will happen if you don't wear a helmet. We hope you enjoy our website about Bicycle Safety Day!

This is Brooke Flores riding a bike at bicycle safety day. Notice she's wearing a helmet.
This is the group that teaches the 7 laws. The leaders of the group at this time were Austin and Ryan.
This is the center called Head or Helmet. As you can see Ivan and Ty are teaching students about the causes of not wearing a helmet and wearing a helmet.

This group is teaching the seven laws to students. The leaders of the center (standing up in back) are Aries, Jackson, and Ruben.

The Seven Laws of Bicycle Safety
  1. Obey all trafic signs and signals
  2. Ride near the curb and go in the same direction as other traffic
  3. Use hand and arm signals
  4. One rider per saddle (seat)
  5. Keep at least one hand on the handlebars
  6. Bicycles must have a white light on the front and a red reflector on the rear when riding at night
  7. Use effective brakes capable of making the braked wheel skid
